When an eco-friendly detergent doesn't work
Over a month ago I switched to the eco-friendly Seventh Generation automatic dishwashing gel. This switch followed an unsuccessful affair with Whole Foods' 365 brand in powder form. The swap also coincided with some plumbing work that we had done so when the dishes come out only moderately cleaner than they were with the Whole Foods detergent, I blamed the poor water pressure that we had been experiencing. I ran out of Seventh Generation a couple of days ago and planned to try the Method capsules. Target apparently doesn't carry them anymore and in a pinch, I picked up my old, environmentally unsound brand: Cascade. And you know what? I haven't seen my dishes so clean in months. There was no food left on the plates and the glassware shined. I am still committed to finding a cleaner without phosphates and chlorine but I need your help, Internet. What dishwasher detergents work for you?
