Now that all of the gifts are unwrapped, I find myself in a sea of toys in need of some sort of battery to keep them going. I feel like I have been replacing batteries left and right and I have amassed a collection of dead alkaline batteries that need a new home.Household batteries should not be disposed of with your regular trash as they can contribute to water pollution if they leach from the landfill. Rechargeable batteries are gladly taken back at many locations, including Radio Shack and Walmart, once they have run their course. Walgreens will accept regular, single use batteries or you can ship them off to Battery Solutions, Inc. for a small fee in order to make sure that they are disposed of properly.
