Dog poop: Now recyclable!
Scouring the backyard in search of small piles of poop is totally the worst part about having a dog. The second worst part, is that -- chances are -- you're taking something that would've naturally decayed and been absorbed by the earth, and wrapping it in plastic so it takes up space in landfill 'till the end of time. But while you might feel a little guilty, you can't just leave the poop unattended -- it smells awful, and it won't be long before the neighbors start complaining. Plus, Fido's feces is full of E coli, salmonella, and some other unpleasant bacteria, so it's not wise to have it sitting around. What's a planet-loving pet owner to do?
Turns out you can compost that crap! You can either pay a commercial composting company to take care of it, or build one yourself. For some helpful tips on how to construct a safe haven for your pet poop, check out this post on the Plenty blog.
