Light your fire (or candles) with sustainable matches

New Year's Eve is just around the corner and I will certainly be lighting logs in the fireplace and wicks on candles to help with the celebratory atmosphere but using petroleum-filled lighters would not be very eco-friendly. I was relieved to find out that the matches I have been buying for years (and had in my house growing up) are made from responsibly-managed forests. Diamond Matches, the most pervasive matches available at convenience and grocery stores across the U.S., are made from trees that are not cut down without an excess of replacements. So as the chill of winter sets in and you want to add some warm lighting to your home be sure to consider sustainable matches over fuel-filled lighters.
