"Locavore, get your gun!"
Steven Rinella, author of The Scavenger's Guide to Haute Cuisine, shouts a battle cry this week to all the locavores out there, "Locavores, get your gun!" In other words, locavores, start hunting!Locavores are those who aim to consume food only from one's own "foodshed," the area within 100 to 300 miles of home.
And hey, if game such as deer are in your foodshed, you can't argue with Rinella's point that their meat would be, "free-range, grass-fed, organic, locally produced, locally harvested, sustainable, native, low-stress, low-impact, humanely slaughtered."
