Yesterday I touted the many
household uses of vinegar. While looking up information for that post, I came across some
health benefits of the substance as well. Vinegar, which is created from the fermentation of ethanol, is an inexpensive and more environmentally friendly alternative to what might be in your medicine cabinet. Here are five of the ways that vinegar can be good for your health:
- Apply vinegar to jellyfish stings to ease the pain.
- If a jellyfish doesn't get you at the beach, the sun might. Vinegar can be applied to a sunburn to ease the effects.
- Equal parts vinegar and alcohol dropped in the ear canal can ward off infection for someone with swimmer's ear.
- A daily drink of one tablespoon of vinegar and one of honey mixed with water will help to ward off a cold.
- Vinegar, when swabbed on a cervix will turn cancerous cells white. I don't know that this will ever come in handy ... but hey, it's good conversation starter if you find yourself chatting with an OBGYN.

The same thing can be said about possibly pre-cancerous lesions in the rectum (caused, incidentally, by the same virus that causes cervical cancer). Although I'm not sure the anal version of the story would be such a good conversation starter at most parties, and it's even harder to try this little experiment on yourself without having a very dear and close friend to hold a very good hand mirror -- unless you're extremely flexible, too.

TRY THIS take vineger and salt exact ratio not known. Only mix up a little since you don't need a lot. And drop a penny in and shake it around for a bit and the penny will clean itself. ALSO works on silver and gold.
vineger and baking soda is kinda fun to do too. just fizzes up a lot.

Apple cider vinegar mixed in a 1:1 ratio with distilled water also works wonders for floppy-eared dogs prone to ear infections. My little boxer has been plagued with yeast infections in her ears since she was a puppy. I learned about this remedy from a Cocker Spaniel breeder's association. I use an ear bulb (available at most drugstores) to irrigate the ears with the solution. No more ear infections!!!! :)

Apple Cider Vinegar also helps with breakouts. If I use a small amount before bed the pimples will be gone in a matter of days.

If you really want to feel great, take a tablespoon of orgnic apple cider vinegar in 8 oz. of water twice a day. I like Braggs better than the Heinz brand (it tastes a lot better). Has helped with colds, increased energy, sinus problems, and the list goes on and on. Vinegar and peroxide could possibly be the two of the best things on earth.

I have been drinking (literally) vinegar since I was a toddler. Like an addict, I have been unable to stop consuming this stuff - any variety/flavor is fine by me and I drink a LOT of it. As much as I love vinegar, I can't say it has done anything for my health one way or the other. Perhaps the beneficial effects have been lost due to overconsumption... just something to think about. :) I still suggest using it everyday though!

I to has had a life long afair with vinagar and vinaga products such as hot sauces, sald dressings or just sucking a few onces from the pepper jar. I am 58, soon to be 59 years young. Have a still heathy appitite for my wife, average about 155 to 160 all my life. I do have high blood presure and cholestrol, but you would never know. I ve been on one medication that works for pass 15 years. It maybe the vingar that keeps me eager to still jump out of bed at five or six in the AM, work a solid day, cook for wife and bowl with my daughters on Friday nights. I think its the Big "V"

My mother-in-law drinks a tablespoon of vinegar with each meal, she was recently diagnosed as diabetic or nearly diabetic I should say, and read somewhere that this would help her body eliminate some of the sugar that is created by the processing of carbohydrates. I have no idea whether this is a legitimate claim, but I will say that when she was retested after three weeks she was no longer in the diabetic range.

Also, if you have a sore throat... gargle with Apple Cider Vinegar a few times a day. Make sure you spit it out tho so that you get rid of the nasty cold germs with it. :)
