Monthly "visit" doesn't just add water weight
Picture this... you are strolling along a beautiful beach, taking in the salty breeze and warming sunshine, you bend down to pick up the perfect seashell and next to it is a discarded feminine product??Probably not the most enjoyable subject but this monthly "occasion" contributes over 14 billion pads, tampons and applicators to North American landfills each year! There are over 55.9 million women in the U.S. alone that are using disposable feminine products and it is estimated that an average woman uses 16,800 tampons in her lifetime! All this adds up to a strained relationship with our matriarch, Mother Earth.
So what's a girl to do?! There are a variety of organic and non-disposable options out there, such as the Diva Cup and The Keeper, and although they may not appeal to the mainstream they would certainly benefit you and your environment.
