Chevy intros first hybrid pickup truck
You can get a gas electric car, SUV, and even a hybrid 18-wheeler these days. But one thing that's still hard to come by is a hybrid pickup truck. But that's about to change.Chevrolet plans to show off its first dual-mode hybrid pickup truck at this week's LA Auto Show. The Chevy Silverado hybrid pickup should get 25 percent better gas mileage than its gas-only cousin overall. And for city driving, you'll get a 40 percent boost.
The truck is still pretty darn powerful. It's got a V-8 engine capable of towing 6,100 pounds. The truck should be available in late 2008.
