Skiing without snow (and other climate-related vacation changes)
Love to ski? Well then you may have been noticing less and less places to go, shorter seasons, and wetter snow than in years past -- and due to global warming and climate change that trend is only going to continue. And it's not just skiing that's affected, because really every travel and vacation destination in the world has some kind of climate-related element. Tour operators and resort owners are among the most affected lifestyles (along with farmers) by the changing weather. Issues like ski lifts ending on parts of the mountain that don't get snow anymore, golf course fairways turning brown due to water shortages, and beaches getting washed away are all serious and very real concerns.
But just because something is a concern is no reason to panic. Countries and tourism industries can still be successful if they learn to roll with the punches and make adjustments as necessary, and of course we can all do our part to help by reducing our carbon footprints in whatever little ways we can.
