How about corporate holiday cards?

Ok, so it's a draw whether sending e-cards for the holidays to family and friends is a tacky idea or a great idea. But what about all of those business holiday cards. Ugh. The ones that business people just send to each other and their clients and that surely end up in the trash as soon as they are opened. And often tend to be really big and heavy (and sometimes kind of ugly).

Umbra of Grist tackles this one gracefully when a reader asks for alternatives to this wasteful tradition. Umbra nixes sending nothing, because businesses just aren't go to go for that one. E-cards could be ok, according to Umbra, if it was the right organization (a technie business, a web design business).

Her most realistic advice is to "improve the eco-ness" of the traditional paper card by using a card high in post-consumer content and using a smaller card. Check out Umbra's column for all the details!
