5 steps to a greener Fido
As Kelly revealed earlier this month, dogs are better for the environment than cats (and thus dog people like me are totally vindicated -- huzzah!). Today we learn that dog-owners can be even more eco-friendly by following a few tips when caring for your prized pooch.
- Use natural pet care products -- they're better for the environment, and better for Fido. For tips on products and procedures, check out the Carefree Pet.
- When buying dog toys, look for hemp, organic cotton, and recycled plastic. Plus, don't forget that you can buy hemp collars, and even eco-friendly dog beds!
- Avoid lawns that are sprayed with chemical pesticides and fertilizers. One way to do this is to stop using these products on your own lawn -- try organic fertilizer instead.
- If your cuddly little bundle of canine joy pees all over the floor, use non-toxic cleaning products to wipe up the mess. Due to the health risks associated with many cleaning products, this is a good idea even if you don't have pets.
- And then when Spot relieves himself on walks (outside, like he's supposed to), use biodegradable bags to remove it from your neighbor's lawn.
