As Kelly revealed earlier this month, dogs are better for the environment than cats (and thus dog people like me are totally vindicated -- huzzah!). Today we learn that dog-owners can be even more eco-friendly by following a few tips when caring for your prized pooch.

1. Use natural pet care products -- they're better for the environment, and better for Fido. For tips on products and procedures, check out the Carefree Pet.
2. When buying dog toys, look for hemp, organic cotton, and recycled plastic. Plus, don't forget that you can buy hemp collars, and even eco-friendly dog beds!
3. Avoid lawns that are sprayed with chemical pesticides and fertilizers. One way to do this is to stop using these products on your own lawn -- try organic fertilizer instead.
4. If your cuddly little bundle of canine joy pees all over the floor, use non-toxic cleaning products to wipe up the mess. Due to the health risks associated with many cleaning products, this is a good idea even if you don't have pets.
5. And then when Spot relieves himself on walks (outside, like he's supposed to), use biodegradable bags to remove it from your neighbor's lawn.
