Goodwill opens new ultra-hip thrift stores
If you're not a college student or a die-hard hipster obsessed with looking ironic, second-hand clothing stores probably aren't very appealing. Especially with the rise of budget fashion retailers like Target and H&M, used clothes don't seem all that inexpensive, and you really have to dig to find decent items amidst all the junk that no one else wanted.
The problem is, that while the "disposable fashion" you'll find at box stores is trendy, it's cheaply made, and probably won't last -- which usually means last season's looks end up in your local landfill.
With that in mind, Goodwill is trying to make thrift shopping sexy with a new line of stores called William Good. The new outlets will still sell recycled clothing, but the inside will be a little more hip -- with floors made from vinyl record albums, racks made from books, and found art on the walls.
The first store opens in San Francisco on November 5th, and if it does well, you can expect to see one popping up in your neighborhood in no time.
