Pack a less wasteful lunch(box)

Anyone packing lunches day after day can tell you that there's too much to figure out: what to feed your -- self, kids, spouse -- what containers to use, and of course how to avoid using plastic bags. 25 million Americans pack lunches for their kids, some estimate; that's 25 million lunches times 180 days per year.

If you are using throwaway containers, plastic bags, even paper sacks, that's loads of waste. Turn over a new leaf and go greener when you pack lunches.

One easy solution is a lunchbox that already has the good kind of plastic containers inside -- including a water bottle-- and is more Eco-friendly than that Sponge Bob or Dora the Explorer case you've been using.

Anne Thommopoulous and Lisa Viscardi are moms -- oh, and also Hollywood execs -- determined to make a difference for the planetary good while offering styling lunch carriers, because you gotta send lunch. The pair launched a new company called Lunchopolis, which offers three neat options: lime green, pink polka dots and rain (our personal favorite). The insulated bag plus containers -- no ice packs necessary -- cost $32.00.

The pair add gratis a "what's for lunch" feature on their website -- under Eat -- that offers menu options for the week, including which containers the various items should go into optimally.

Thought required for that? Not a whole lot: just follow directions!
