Some of the many ways to recycle plastic grocery bags
I don't bring canvas bags with me to the grocery store. I intend to one day (how's that for commitment?) but for now I take what they give me which usually amounts in a mountain of plastic bags stored in my laundry room. I do reuse these plastic bags, however. Grocery store bags are generally of lesser quality than those from department stores so they are relegated to litter box refuse. As I have two young children I keep plenty stashed in my diaper bag as well as the car's glove box. You never really know when something is going to end up wet and stinky with little ones around. I also line the bathroom trash can with a plastic bag to make trash day easier.I have a friend who diligently brings her leftover bags to local thrift shops to be reused by the store. This, I think is a great idea for the heavier plastic or even paper bags that one might accumulate.
The next step for me is to move onto canvas -- at least for grocery shopping. I'll start one bag at a time.

Not a good idea to let kitty play with the plastic bags. They can get wrapped up an suffocate!
I guess that's another good reason to switch to canvas, although kitty might shred that one.
