Eco-friendly paints for your home

What qualifies a home paint as eco-friendly? From MarthaStewart.com, eco-friendly paints are those that have zero or very low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Conventional paints produce fumes that can pollute your air inside your home, as well as outside.

How do you know a green paint? On the label, those paints certified by Green Seal, GreenGuard Environmental Institute, or Scientific Certification Systems, will have an offical seal indicating that they have passed tight emissions standards and have good performance (eliminating the need for many coats).

Not having to inhale all those smelly fumes next time you paint is always good.

You can check out some of these green brands at MarthaStewart.com here.
